"Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens." John Homer Miller

Nutrition and Physical Activity Lesson 5: Eating Disorders

How does society influence our body image and the way we eat?

Eating Disorders:

Anorexia: a disorder characterized by people who intentionally starve themselves.
Bulimia: People with bulimia consume large amounts of food (called binging) and then rid their bodies of the excess calories by vomiting, abusing laxatives or diuretics, taking enemas, or exercising obsessively.
Binge eating disorder (or compulsive overeating): resembles bulimia, characterized by episodes of uncontrolled eating or binging. However, sufferers do not purge their bodies of excess foods.
